Old things, New things
I haven't been blogging for awhile. I just read my archives and realized that my posts are sometimes really too serious! Hahas
Hence today, I decided to blog about something that I find interesting and captivates me.
One of my secret hobby since I was a young boy was collecting vintage stuff/toys. I am in love with vintage stuff. It fascinates me. If you come to my house you will realise I have a cabinet full of my vintage Batman figures, and Batmobiles. Some of which are as old as me! OR EVEN OLDER. One of my batmobile is made in 1984! (see pic below)

I remembered when I was a kid, my mom seldom brought me and my brothers to Toys'Rus. On the other hand, she would bring us to Boat Quay every saturday/sunday morning. Back in those days, Boat quay was filled with little booths selling 2nd hand goods/toys/clothes/everything. Going there was always the highlight of my week.

I guess my mom was clever, she knew first of all, the 2nd hand toys were much cheaper! WAY CHEAPER! And she taught us about re-cycling too. I remembered being given 20 dollars. To look for my own toys, and bargain my own deal. It was so exciting, and I always left that place filled with joy after getting my vintage toys.

Even though I knew it used to belong to someone else, and it is 2nd hand. I did not really mind. I mean when we are children, TOYS ARE TOYS! Isn't it true?

It's a pity, they stopped having those thrift shops and booths there. It was really an experience that I will never forget. I remembered back in those days, I could get a box of second hand toys for just a few dollars! Who would've thought that those toys people were trying to get rid of could grow in value over these years. I went to Ebay to check, all my batman toy collection, added together could worth around $1000!

I learnt an important lesson through all these. Value the things that seems insignificant in your life, and be faithful with the little, and when the time comes it's value may increase, more shall be added. Don't belittle your small beginnings. For in due season, you'll reap a bountiful harvest, if you don't lose heart, if you don't stop doing what is right, if you don't stop enjoying what you're doing.

The sellers that sold me these toys, probably didn't see any value in them. They thought they were making a good profit selling them for a few dollars. But as a child, I saw more value in those toys, my heart pumped with excitement week after week, just to collect them. Who would have thought that 10 years later these toys would worth 10000 percent more than it's original price?

Thankfully I never got rid of them, even when the newer toys came out. I cherish what I had. See, sometimes it's really not about having what you want, it's about wanting what you have.

Don't look elsewhere, look around your common place. Look at your hands. What do you see? Old things or New things?

Revelation 21:5-6 (NKJV)

5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” 6 And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.
