Peace be still

In times of chaos, where do you find peace? Everything is turning against you. Nothing seems to be right. Your house, your family, your friends, in school, you never feel peace in your heart. You are always, worrying, troubled, distressed. Time is always against you, you are frustrated.
Many people say, I just want peace! But the truth is, they never seem to get the definition of peace right. Having peace does not mean, you get rid of all your problems and situations. That will never be possible. The truth is you will always have challenges in your life! Things that don't go your way. There will never be a "perfect" condition. But amidst of that, will you choose peace? Peace is a choice.

Peace is a state of mind, it is one that choose calmness, and not anxiousness. It choose love instead of hatred. It choose faith instead of fear. It choose joy instead of sadness. It choose forgiveness instead of grudge. That is peace. You make a choice.

The power of peace is that, though it doesn't change your circumstances, it changes the way you look at them. The way you react to them. See, storms will come and go. Even the greatest storm. But peace is different, you choose peace, you can't "make" peace.

And the beautiful thing is. when you do so, you will begin to see things differently. The negative mind begins to fade away. You put on a new mind, one that is optimistic of what the future holds.
Will you choose peace?
Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV)
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Love that Overcomes

1 John 4:18-19 (NKJV)

18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 19 We love Him because He first loved us.

You guys are really the iron chefs! Can't wait till the next dinner. You guys should open a restaurant.

Thanks Brian, Rachel and Jying too. It was really a pleasant surprise, that you guys came all the way to my house to surprise me, and also "vandalise" the lift and wall for me.

How you Enter

Wow isn't it fast? 2008 has just passed in a blink of an eye. Many things has happened, the good, the bad. But at the end of the day, I thank God for all of them. Because every victory or even failure form a part of me.

Moving on, don't look back at 2008 no matter what has happened. Don't dwell on your past victories, and forget that new challeges are set ahead. At the same time, don't dwell on your past defeats, things that disappoint you, or let you down. Look forward, look ahead, look at what the future holds.
How you enter the year will ultimately set the pace for the rest of it. Its like getting the ball rolling. Don't kick it too fast, or too slow. Pace, set goals, realistic ones. Yes, some may say setting new year resolution is a bad thing. But hey, a man without vision is dead. I rather set a goal, even if I don't reach it, but I try, and improve. Then to live a life without a visions or a goal, and remain comfortable at where I am, and stay stagnant for the rest of my life.

Of course setting realistic goals are important. As setting an unrealistic one may dampened ones spirit. "Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But when the desire comes, it is a tree of life." (Proverbs 13:12)
Start dreaming, visualising. If you can see it, you can have it.

So start the year on the right foot now, look ahead, 2008 is over. Whatever has happened has happened. It's not too late to start now. Besides you have 364 days left =)

Hebrews 12:1-2 (NKJV)
1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
