TWINKLE'S 17th
Well I know I am about 1 hour late now. But I figured I still needed to do this.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TWINKLE TAY!
Wow another year jus passed like in a blink of an eye. You are 17 already. Just want to say thanks for serving hard in the CG. Though there were many ups and downs, you managed to pull through and never give up. And turned out, you have grown even stronger than before.
Thanks for your friendship too. I really appreciate all your help in W504. You are truly a pillar to this cell group. Looking back, it has been an amazing journey hasn't it? But I really believe that even greater things have yet to come for you! Keep the fire burning =)
With God's Love,
Justine

Proverbs 27:17-18 (NKJV)
17 As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend. 18 Whoever keeps the fig tree will eat its fruit; So he who waits on his master will be honored.

Childhood Dream
As a young boy, I always wanted a BMX. But somehow, never did get it. On the otherhand, my mom chose to buy me a mountain bike. I never understood why she did that.
I never really understood why she did that. I mean I WANTED A STUNT BIKE! I thought it was cooler, after watching all the extreme sports competiton, when the daredevil stunt bikers would fly in mid air, do some grinds on the rails. Wow, it seemed so cool. I later understood why my mom never did buy me one of the BMX.
Firstly, I was a kid, not a stunt bike hero. My mom understood that riding on those BMX was dangerous. She was smart, she knew if i did get the BMX I would hurt myself while trying to do some ridiculous stunts. Even without a bike, God knows how many time I have sprained my neck, fractured my arm. That's the first reason.

Secondly, comparing a BMX and a mountain bike. A BMX is only used for stunts. There is no way you can ride on a BMX for long distances. Unlike mountain bikes, which has gears to make your ride more easier, and better for the long run.
My mom knew what was best for me at that time. But I didn't. I thought I knew what I needed, what I wanted, I thought it was best for me.
I only understood this when I bought my BMX recently just to make myself happy. To fulfil that childhood dream and desire. Now it's clear. When I was a child I spoke like a child, I understood like a child. Threw tantrum like a child. But when I grow up, I understood with maturity.
In life, when we don't get what we want, we get angry with God, angry with life. Disattisfied. But because the Father knows what is best for His child He won't give the child what the child wants. Instead He gives the child what he really needs, what is best for him, what he can handle.

Obama the Man
As you can say, I just changed my blogskin to a background inspired by Barack Obama's website! I am a fan of this man. Full of respect for his courage and passion.
Change WE CAN! Believe he's going to make a difference. Full of confidence and wisdom. Gifted in speech.
Probably the most passionate speech I've ever heard was by Martin Luther King Jr.- "I have a Dream." On racial equality. One of my favourite quote he said during that speech- "I have a dream! That one day my four little children will grow up not judged by the colour of their skin, but by the content of their character!"
Who would have thought that just a few decades later would stand at the same spot, Barack Obama, the first ever black African American president.
Dare to Dream.

Too Young, to not TRY!
"Don't let the fear of striking out, stop you from playing the game." Isn't it true that, sometimes during a game, we are afraid to try something different/new in fear that people may judge us.
I remember when I first had the idea of Soule (a.k.a Selfless shoe), there was this feeling of resistance to sharing my idea with others. "What if it won't work?" "They'll say IM TOO YOUNG!"
And sure enough when I did managed to pluck up enough curage to share this idea with my peers, you should have seen the reaction on their faces! "WHAT?? BUY ONE GIVE ONE? YOU MUST BE KIDDING!" "IN YOUR DREAMS!"
I know what you're thinking, with friends like that, who needs enemies? Hahas
But you know what, trials and tribulations come and go. It is up to us, how we react to them, I chose to persist on. Even though I don't know what would happen, though I am young, I have no experience. I know! But I chose to believe.
Don't ever let anyone tell you, you can't make it. Or you're too young. Haven't you heard? The Glory of the Youth is in their STRENGTH!

Though it makes Him sad to see the way we live,
He'll always say, "I forgive".

Vintage Jacket

Chanced upon this vintage jacket on ebay. It's OLD but it really caught my eye. This was the same jacket worn by the Liverpool players when they won the FA cup in 1986! Definitely won't mind having one of these.

Old things, New things
I haven't been blogging for awhile. I just read my archives and realized that my posts are sometimes really too serious! Hahas
Hence today, I decided to blog about something that I find interesting and captivates me.
One of my secret hobby since I was a young boy was collecting vintage stuff/toys. I am in love with vintage stuff. It fascinates me. If you come to my house you will realise I have a cabinet full of my vintage Batman figures, and Batmobiles. Some of which are as old as me! OR EVEN OLDER. One of my batmobile is made in 1984! (see pic below)
(Above: this was made in 1984)

(Above: made in 1989)

I remembered when I was a kid, my mom seldom brought me and my brothers to Toys'Rus. On the other hand, she would bring us to Boat Quay every saturday/sunday morning. Back in those days, Boat quay was filled with little booths selling 2nd hand goods/toys/clothes/everything. Going there was always the highlight of my week.

I guess my mom was clever, she knew first of all, the 2nd hand toys were much cheaper! WAY CHEAPER! And she taught us about re-cycling too. I remembered being given 20 dollars. To look for my own toys, and bargain my own deal. It was so exciting, and I always left that place filled with joy after getting my vintage toys.

Even though I knew it used to belong to someone else, and it is 2nd hand. I did not really mind. I mean when we are children, TOYS ARE TOYS! Isn't it true?

It's a pity, they stopped having those thrift shops and booths there. It was really an experience that I will never forget. I remembered back in those days, I could get a box of second hand toys for just a few dollars! Who would've thought that those toys people were trying to get rid of could grow in value over these years. I went to Ebay to check, all my batman toy collection, added together could worth around $1000!

I learnt an important lesson through all these. Value the things that seems insignificant in your life, and be faithful with the little, and when the time comes it's value may increase, more shall be added. Don't belittle your small beginnings. For in due season, you'll reap a bountiful harvest, if you don't lose heart, if you don't stop doing what is right, if you don't stop enjoying what you're doing.

The sellers that sold me these toys, probably didn't see any value in them. They thought they were making a good profit selling them for a few dollars. But as a child, I saw more value in those toys, my heart pumped with excitement week after week, just to collect them. Who would have thought that 10 years later these toys would worth 10000 percent more than it's original price?

Thankfully I never got rid of them, even when the newer toys came out. I cherish what I had. See, sometimes it's really not about having what you want, it's about wanting what you have.

Don't look elsewhere, look around your common place. Look at your hands. What do you see? Old things or New things?

Revelation 21:5-6 (NKJV)

5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” 6 And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.
